- Most paid-circulation papers, both daily and weekly, reach the majority of homes in their primary city or town.
- It has a relatively short life span, newspapers are typically read once, then discarded, thus requiring multiple insertions.
Disadvantages:
- When you advertise on TV, your commercial is not only competing with others, it is also competing with the viewer’s environment as well.

Design situation Inquiry and analysis
Statement of inquiry: Advertisements as a form of communication have evolved through time and space to influence audience's perspective.
Introduction:My name is Adam Iich, I am a student of Technology. As part of the MYP design in term 1, we are using the software called Desktop Publisher that helps design flyers, posters, CD-Covers and brochures. Desktop Publishing enables us to create awareness or send quotes and messages around the school/neighborhood.
I study in Emirates International School Meadows. I have seen that we have newsletter being generated in our school but students are rarely contributing towards it. So I am planning to develop a movie advertising the need to write articles on the activities done in school.
So for my MYP project I intend to create a feasible solution that rectifies these issues. For this project I will have to collect data on what kind of skills are required to improve the techniques I already know.

The World Of Advertisements
Factors to be considered when creating advertisements
Here is an example of an advertisement |
Task 1:
How to create an advertisement:
Advertisements
Advertisements are made for many reasons such as:
- Trying to make them buy a product
- Trying to raise awareness for an important subject
- Just there to be funny and enjoyable
- Trying to tell other people to donate something
- Etc.
- Songs
- Children
- Famous celebrities e. j sportsmen, singers, etc
- The way the product works
- role models showing why they prefer this product
- Slogans and catchy/ descriptive language which relates to company or the product
To influence the viewers mind you must make your advertisement unique and grab their attention to buy your product. Each advertisement is presented through suitable media, before publishing the ad you must think about the media through which the person is going to advertise. It is important to choose suitable media for the advertising of the product.
Advantages:
- (1) Introduces a New Product in the Market:
(2) Expansion of the Market:
(3) Increased Sales:
(4) Fights Competition:
(5) Enhances Good-Will:
(6) Educates The Consumers:
(7) Elimination of Middlemen:
(8) Better Quality Products:
(9) Supports The Salesmanship:
(10) More Employment Opportunities:
(11) Reduction in the Prices of Newspapers and Magazines Etc:
(12) Higher Standard of Living:
Disadvantages:
- (1) Adds to Costs:
- (2) Undermines Social Values:
Only very few products are of any use for them. The brilliance of new products really gets on their nerves. They want to buy them but have no resources at their command. Consequently, they start feeling upset with their present status. Taking it as a social evil, it can be said that advertisement undermines social values.
- (3) Confuses the Buyers:
They come to realise later that the information given in the advertisement was something else whereas the actual product was quite different from it. Thus, people lose confidence in advertising because of wrong presentation. In this reference it is said that advertising confuses rather than helps.
- (4) Encourages Sale of Inferior Products:
Consequently, it is difficult to get good quality product even after paying a handsome price for it. If a seller gets good price for some inferior product, it becomes a habit with him. It affects other sellers also. Therefore, it is said that advertisement encourages the sale of inferior products.
- (5) Some Advertisement is in Bad Taste:
In conclusion:
Advertising is a great way of sharing ideas and raising awareness across the world/ city. Most of the advertisements made are for selling products, it is a great way for people to be introduced to the product. If the ad is posted on the internet the ad would be a world wide known product which everyone can take a look at and buy the product.
