Criteria A
Week 1:
This week I had started researching and finding a specific topic to start for the tech fair project. In class Yousief and I were thinking of working together and finding a topic for the both us. First we had thought of a hoverboard but after researching it was pretty complicated and the both of us barely understood. When we searched on images of hoverboards we a saw a boat shaped vehicle riding the water. We opened the website and saw that it was called a hovercraft. We searched on google images hovercraft and we saw on Youtube that many people made small constructions of a hovercraft which works. We continued watching and saw the ways to make an RC hover craft. We have finished of the task for the day given to us
Week 2:
This week we had got our final idea which was the RC hovercraft. We started on the powerpoint and from then on we collected materials as we went on throughout the weeks. It was quite expensive so we had to think of ways to earn money. We had snipped the website page and locations of where we can find the materials. We started working on the actual material/ project.
Week 3:
This was the worst week for me Yousief kicked me out of the group for no reason and went on working alone. It was really hard when I already made the video with him. so I went on looking for another partner and I had finally found a partner which was also looking for one. It was Karim he had appreciated me and from then on we have been working together really well. Karim sent me the powerpoint he had made and from that week we always finished our work on time and in the amount of time given. We started on our video and we agreed to finish everything on that day so I can send it to him so he posts it on Blogger.
Week 4:
Durnig this week it was evaluation week, we had to make a peer evaluation and a self evaluation. Karim could not keep contact so for the peer evaluation I did it for my self. Karim and I have worked well since then.

Methods of advertising
This is a poster about the methods of advertising:
Comparing different Methods of advertising:
- Magazines
- Pop up referral ads
- Television
- Out of home ads
- Inside of home
- Radio
- Signs
- Social media
- Newspapers
- Other
Advantages and disadvantages of advertising:
Magazines:
Disadvantages:
- Regional testing, can’t often be done as magazines area often national
- Long Life: magazines have a longer life than newspapers, they sit about in doctor’s waiting rooms, magazine racks and with collectors.
Disadvantages:
- Most paid-circulation papers, both daily and weekly, reach the majority of homes in their primary city or town.
- It has a relatively short life span, newspapers are typically read once, then discarded, thus requiring multiple insertions.
Disadvantages:
- When you advertise on TV, your commercial is not only competing with others, it is also competing with the viewer’s environment as well.
- It has the ability to convey your message with sight, sound and motion, and can give a product or service instant validity and prominence.
Disadvantages:
- Not all products and services are suited for radio advertisements.
- Just like television, radio advertising has the ability to reach a very large group of people at the same time.
Disadvantages:
- Media ads take time and effort and costs a majority of money.
- Social media marketing is cost-related.
Disadvantages:
- It can drive away your current audience.
- It’s the first thing that visitors see when they go to your site.
Disadvantages:
- A person will see your billboard for about two to three seconds.
- They are on the streets, you'll be guaranteed that people will see your advertising.
Design situation Inquiry and analysis
Statement of inquiry: Advertisements as a form of communication have evolved through time and space to influence audience's perspective.
Introduction:My name is Adam Iich, I am a student of Technology. As part of the MYP design in term 1, we are using the software called Desktop Publisher that helps design flyers, posters, CD-Covers and brochures. Desktop Publishing enables us to create awareness or send quotes and messages around the school/neighborhood.
I study in Emirates International School Meadows. I have seen that we have newsletter being generated in our school but students are rarely contributing towards it. So I am planning to develop a movie advertising the need to write articles on the activities done in school.
So for my MYP project I intend to create a feasible solution that rectifies these issues. For this project I will have to collect data on what kind of skills are required to improve the techniques I already know.

The World Of Advertisements
Factors to be considered when creating advertisements
![]() |
| Here is an example of an advertisement |
Task 1:
How to create an advertisement:
Advertisements
Advertisements are made for many reasons such as:
- Trying to make them buy a product
- Trying to raise awareness for an important subject
- Just there to be funny and enjoyable
- Trying to tell other people to donate something
- Etc.
- Songs
- Children
- Famous celebrities e. j sportsmen, singers, etc
- The way the product works
- role models showing why they prefer this product
- Slogans and catchy/ descriptive language which relates to company or the product
To influence the viewers mind you must make your advertisement unique and grab their attention to buy your product. Each advertisement is presented through suitable media, before publishing the ad you must think about the media through which the person is going to advertise. It is important to choose suitable media for the advertising of the product.
Advantages:
- (1) Introduces a New Product in the Market:
(2) Expansion of the Market:
(3) Increased Sales:
(4) Fights Competition:
(5) Enhances Good-Will:
(6) Educates The Consumers:
(7) Elimination of Middlemen:
(8) Better Quality Products:
(9) Supports The Salesmanship:
(10) More Employment Opportunities:
(11) Reduction in the Prices of Newspapers and Magazines Etc:
(12) Higher Standard of Living:
Disadvantages:
- (1) Adds to Costs:
- (2) Undermines Social Values:
Only very few products are of any use for them. The brilliance of new products really gets on their nerves. They want to buy them but have no resources at their command. Consequently, they start feeling upset with their present status. Taking it as a social evil, it can be said that advertisement undermines social values.
- (3) Confuses the Buyers:
They come to realise later that the information given in the advertisement was something else whereas the actual product was quite different from it. Thus, people lose confidence in advertising because of wrong presentation. In this reference it is said that advertising confuses rather than helps.
- (4) Encourages Sale of Inferior Products:
Consequently, it is difficult to get good quality product even after paying a handsome price for it. If a seller gets good price for some inferior product, it becomes a habit with him. It affects other sellers also. Therefore, it is said that advertisement encourages the sale of inferior products.
- (5) Some Advertisement is in Bad Taste:
In conclusion:
Advertising is a great way of sharing ideas and raising awareness across the world/ city. Most of the advertisements made are for selling products, it is a great way for people to be introduced to the product. If the ad is posted on the internet the ad would be a world wide known product which everyone can take a look at and buy the product.
